In England, she's considered something of a fashion 'It' girl as an MTV presenter and talkshow host, but Alexa Chung (right) might want to work on her dry comic delivery. On Thursday afternoon, the British style icon was at Elements' Mulberry shop - with the label's creative director Emma Hill (left) - for a spring/summer collection preview. When the press asked for her thoughts on the bags, Chung deadpanned: 'They were horrible.' It took a few seconds for everyone to realise the quirky presenter was joking. Even then, the laughs were a bit uncomfortable. Born to an English mother and half-Chinese dad, Chung is the inspiration for a new bag this year. 'It's very nice and flattering,' she replied, without elaborating. Not exactly loquacious, but maybe she's still bitter her talk show, It's On With Alexa Chung, was cancelled in December. During the fashion show, the former model seemed more interested in the local girls than Mulberry's new pastel-and-chiffon range. She was heard asking where each model was from. In contrast, the shy and busy Hill was mostly backstage. However, she did explain to CitySeen why Chung intrigues her. 'I've always admired her style,' Hill said. 'I saw her carrying an Elkington bag, a men's briefcase, and was inspired to create the Alexa. She has been a dream to work with.'
