Taiwan's Chen Ming-chuan leaps into the air after holing a birdie putt on the first play-off hole against Hong Kong's James Stewart during Volvo China Open international qualifying at Discovery Bay Golf Club yesterday that earned him a place in the prestigious tournament. Both players had 15-foot birdie putts on the first play-off hole, but Chen drained his to deny Stewart for the second straight year. 'I was just unlucky,' Stewart said. American Daniel Im and Australian Scott Barr shared qualifying honours, while Taiwanese amateur Tsai Tsung-yu, who shot the best round of the two-day competition with a one-under-par 71 yesterday, will also make the trip to Suzhou.
