It's a colourful world we live in, but be warned, as the colours you wear may affect your day at the office. You may notice that when you put on the shirt with a colour that doesn't feel right, you feel anxious. This can be explained in Chinese metaphysics: the colours that you wear should reflect your elements derived from analysing your time and date of birth as shown in the 'Eight Characters of Birth' system. There are five elements that are used in Chinese metaphysical calculations: wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Wood is needed to kindle fire, which turns into ash and becomes earth. Metal is extracted from the ground and melts to form water which is essential for the survival of wood. Water is represented by black and blue, while green symbolises wood. Red, orange, purple and pink are the colours of fire, while earth is represented by yellow, beige and shades of brown. Metallic colours are grey and white. So what colours are best? A Chinese astrologer can work out your astrological chart. For instance, you may need fire to bring balance into your chart or water to ensure that the flow of your chart is not interrupted. Most people tend to have colours that belong to two elements, such as wood and water (green, blue and black), or fire and earth (red, orange, yellow and brown) and so on. We tend to have our own sixth sense about the colours that suit us best and are naturally drawn to them. We also have an aversion to colours we avoid wearing.
