Raimondi College Primary Section in Wan Chai has suspended classes for seven days to stop the spread of a possible influenza in the school. According to the school's website, about 10 per cent of pupils were off sick on Tuesday and the school decided to suspend classes from yesterday until next Tuesday. Classes will resume next Wednesday. The second-term exams for pupils in Primary One to Five have been cancelled. Primary Six students have been told to check for updates on their exam through the school or its website. The Department of Health advised the school to suspend classes for seven days to stop the possible spread of influenza after the outbreak of swine flu and influenza B. According to the investigation, 35 boys and five girls aged between six and 11 have developed flu-like symptoms since February 26. One of them had to be treated in hospital but has now gone home. All the pupils who fell ill are in stable condition. The pupil who went to hospital tested positive for influenza B, while another of the sick pupils tested positive for swine flu. The department has visited the school and it has been put under medical surveillance.
