It is important to protect Hong Kong's heritage. I think dai pai dong are a crucial part of our culture and should be preserved.
I love eating at these open-air food stalls. The dishes are cheap and delicious. But these street cafes seem to be vanishing fast. This is very sad. There are movies and books about them.
You may say these roadside stalls are not clean and cause traffic congestion. But these are not good reasons to get rid of the eateries. They are very popular among low-income groups. You can get a good meal for about HK$20. After all, not many of us can afford to eat at hotels and restaurants.
The government must do its best to save dai pai dong. They are a part of our collective memory.
