Tony Cruz is in a real fight for a third trainer's premiership and unbeaten dirt freak Perfect Fit can help his title chances with a win in the middle leg of tomorrow night's Triple Trio at Sha Tin.
A subscription griffin, Perfect Fit had looked ordinary with a first-up third on September 20 over the Sha Tin straight from his first four turf runs, but a move to the dirt surface on December 27 has seen an abrupt form reversal.
Perfect Fit was caught deep from gate 12 with Matthew Chadwick in the saddle, but quickened up nicely to put a good margin of 11/4 lengths on St Didar and Viva Guy.
Reproduced 20 days later off an eight-point penalty and a 127-pound weight assignment, he was given a ground-saving run before shooting clear for a two-length win over Season Linkz and St Didar.
The three-year-old vaulted into Class Three for his next task on February 20 after a nine-point penalty, but made light work of a useful field under Jeff Lloyd's guidance for a 11/2-length success over My Whisky.
Perfect Fit has 129 pounds to carry this time, but should be in the firing line throughout for Chadwick from gate five.
