A MAN who allegedly obtained a pistol for a gang to use in a fur shop holdup and is said to have arranged and paid for two of the robbery suspects' escape to China went on trial in the High Court yesterday.
Luk Chi-tong, 30, denied one count each of possession of arms and ammunition without a licence and conspiracy to rob.
Luk, who is being tried by a jury before Mr Justice Patrick Chan, also pleaded not guilty to two charges of assisting an offender with intent to impede the apprehension or prosecution of the offender.
Prosecutor Barry Moorfoot said that in August 1991, Luk was paid $12,000 to obtain a pistol and ammunition for the robbery.
Mr Moorfoot said Luk was arrested in April last year and, under caution, he admitted supplying the pistol to the gang.
The court heard that in January 1992, two of the robbery suspects, Ho So-tai and Siu Chi-wah, were stopped for questioning by police in Tai Po.
