A BUSINESSMAN raped a secretary in his offices after spiking her orange drink, the High Court heard yesterday.

The 32-year-old company boss, who admits raping the teenager, allegedly put Halcion, a strong sleeping pill, in the drink.

The girl, 19, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had been working for less than three weeks at the import and export firm when she became dizzy and blacked out on her boss' sofa after sipping the drink on April 8 last year.

Prosecutor Jenny Betts said: ''She felt as if it was all dark. The next thing she remembers is being moved from the sitting position to the lying position and her shoes were removed.

''The defendant then suggested she take off her clothing. She felt the defendant remove her clothes. She then lost consciousness.

''She went in and out of consciousness. She realised she was naked and shivering. She remembers feeling the defendant pressing against her body. Her attempts to push him away were unsuccessful. The defendant kissed her breasts.'' The girl had then blacked out and came round as she was being raped before losing consciousness again.
