The Materials, Manufacturing and Technology (MM&T) fair 2010 is held with a special highlight this year at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Recognising tanners, who have the best practices and the most outstanding eco-friendliness standards, the event's hosts, APLF and World Leather magazine, are holding the inaugural Global Tannery of the Year award.
Dubbed as the 'Oscars' of the leather industry by the organisers, there will be a gala dinner tonight where the award will be presented.
There will be six awards, with one Tannery of the Year Award winner from each of the five regions around the world, and one global Tannery of the Year, 2009.
Throughout the past year, the World Leather editorial team has visited five continents to compile reports on different leather companies and has concluded the finalists for the award.
The 10 finalist come from nine countries, including ISA TanTec from Guangzhou and Simona Tanning from Huizhou, Bridge of Weir from Scotland, Josef Heinen from Germany, Ethiopian Tannery Share Company from Ethiopia and South Cape Ostrich Tanning from South Africa, Procesos H?medos from Mexico, Curtiembres Fonseca from Argentina, PrimeAsia from Vietnam and Tata International from India.
