Topping Light has showed plenty of promise in his first campaign and looks a standout tomorrow night at Happy Valley in the middle leg of the Triple Trio, boasting an estimated jackpot of HK$4 million. Topping Light got his career off to a cracker on October 17 with a handy 1,000m win at Sha Tin under the guidance of Olivier Doleuze. He then made his Happy Valley debut a month later and, after box-seating from gate seven under apprentice Matthew Chadwick, speared to the lead 150m out and held on comfortably to beat the proven sprinters Just Chill and Master Rio. Topping Light has failed to taste victory in his next four assignments in Class Three at Sha Tin, but has been far from disgraced while securing a third behind Mr Celerity, second behind Leading City, fourth behind No More Green and You Gotta Pay, and a last-to-third dash behind Enriched and Brave Heart from gate 14 over the 1,400m. The Caspar Fownes-trained four-year-old should be in the firing line throughout from gate one with Doleuze and looks definite banker material. Bondi Lad has been a tough cookie to catch with straight wins over this course and distance, and budding apprentice Ben So Ting-hung has been called upon for weight relief and looks a logical dual banker. Perfect Sprint, Invinciblekindness, Master Rio and Confucius Classic are worth considering. It is a make-or-break opening leg with plenty of live chances, but Fun bounced off a rating bottom with a front-running second behind Karbridge from a biased gate-one draw on a similar 'C-course' last start. Fun again looks the confirmed leader and will take plenty of catching from a decent gate six. Wind Knight has not had any luck from a wide gate in his last two starts, but can work home late for a lion's share of the prize money. Last-start winner Prosperous, Tai Hang's Pride, Telecom Super Star, Treasure Raiders and King Creole are other possible chances. El Zonda made it two wins and a third from last four starts over this course and distance with another exciting come-from-behind success earlier this month, and remains a serious chance in the final leg. He will need to defy a big weight, but should get a race run to suit and looks banker material. Trainer Tony Millard has got the best out of Our Pegasus - rolling forward for two straight wins over the 1,000m, and he can be entertained as a dual banker play. China Hero, Diamond Knight, Secret Of Winning, Happee Gift and Supreme De Union can complete ballots.
