Forget the Easter Bunny, shoppers at the Lok Fu Plaza came face to face over the weekend with a nine-metre tall version of the Disney space creature, Stitch. The cartoon character from the 2002 animation Lilo & Stitch, came alive in an inflatable form on Friday for a promotion between the Disney Channel and The Link Reit, which is trying to entice more people to visit its shopping facilities. In addition to a Hawaiian-themed launch on Good Friday, a contest began to invite the public to take funny and creative pictures with the inflatable blue alien. The trick is to find him though, as it will be on roving display at five of The Link's shopping centres across the city from now until Mother's Day on May 9. The venues are Lok Fu Plaza, Tsz Wan Shan Shopping Centre, Fu Tung Plaza, Kai Tin Shopping Centre and Tin Shui Shopping Centre. Clues to where Stitch will be each day will be offered on Disney's TV channel and its website. Once you take your wacky picture, you can upload it to the 'Stitch! On the loose!' photo contest at www.disneychannel.com.hk/ . The most interesting images can win cool prizes, with the highlights being a trip for two to Tokyo Disney Resort or the chance to appear on the Hong Kong Disney Channel. We know shop owners have been complaining about rent increases so we wonder if this is an attempt to appease them.
