Passengers described yesterday's evacuation of a damaged Cathay Pacific jet as chaotic, with a number suffering minor injuries as they ran for their lives during the emergency landing.
Eight were admitted to hospitals and one woman was in serious condition last night.
Showing her injured forearm to reporters at the airport arrivals hall, Indonesian Dewi told how she was hurt as she slid down an evacuation chute.
She said no one knew how dangerous the situation was until the flight landed and once they learned of it, frantic passengers rushed for the exits. 'Ten people crashed into each other,' Dewi said.
She said she did not notice anything unusual during the landing and was shocked to hear an evacuation order three minutes later.
'Passengers were told to leave the plane immediately but were not given an explanation about what was wrong. Many became frightened and fell on their knees when they rushed for the exits,' she said.
