AFTER winning much praise for its presentation of A Midsummer Night's Dream in the New Territories last month, the Hong Kong Ballet Company is back to offer dance lovers yet another promising programme.
The three-in-one treat will feature Sir Frederick Ashton's Les Patineurs, Marius Petipa's Paquita and Helen Lai Hoy-ning's The Strangers.
Live music will be provided by the Hong Kong Sinfonietta conducted by Mido Komai during the performance.
In Les Patineurs Ashton, a top British choreographer who has led the English Royal Ballet to achieve worldwide fame, shows us how ballet can imitate ice-skating.
Ms Julie Lincoln from the Royal Ballet School and the producer of Les Patineurs said the special feature of the piece was the beautiful dance steps.
''It has no story,'' she said. ''It just gives you a picture of young people enjoying skating on ice.'' She said the dance was ''charming, very fresh and the classical steps presented in a modern, romantic form indeed were very pretty to look at''.
