I read somewhere that short leggings (above the knee) are in this summer, which is great news as I have tons of long T-shirts and short casual dresses. Where can I find some that are comfortable on the waist? I can only see below-the-knee ones at the usual stores such as M&S, Zara, Giordano etc.

The Dictator rules: You mean cycling shorts. Great news for whom? Certainly not anyone assaulted with the view. Heaven help us if this 'sporty' trend steps off the runways and into our daily lives. If you're going high fashion, then you need to see the last remaining 'stretch, flocked, tulip-brocade' cycling shorts at Louis Vuitton in blue, purple or pink (HK$3,500; Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 8100 1182). DKNY also used them for its spring-summer show but the Hong Kong store doesn't carry them. Never fear, you can still sport the look, literally, with brands such as adidas at the super trendy Marathon Sports (HK$349; Pacific Place, Admiralty, tel: 2524 6992); or the fashion-forward adidas by Stella McCartney, where you'll find cycling shorts in black or grey with see-through zebra motif mesh details on the upper thigh (HK$750; adidas, Harbour City, tel: 2730 6685). For the most basic of cycling shorts, head to any market, such as Li Yuen Street East, Central, where you can pick up five for about HK$100. Across the way, Lily Co sells them with fancy lace trims (HK$35 to HK$42; 17 Li Yuen Street East, tel: 2810 7178). If 1980s-style shiny lycra is what you're after, head to the children's section at H+M, where they have them in a fetching bright purple (HK$79.90; 68 Queen's Road Central, tel: 2110 9546).

I've heard a lot about Sass and Bide from friends. Where can I buy it in Hong Kong?

Sass & Biding My Time, Wan Chai

The Dictator: OK, we won't fry you for this question since the Australian brand's website doesn't list Hong Kong retail locations and it is relatively hidden within the brand meccas of local department stores Seibu (Pacific Place, tel: 2971 3838) and Lane Crawford (only at 3 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2118 3428). The label's founders, Sarah-Jane Clarke (Sass) and Heidi Middleton (Bide), began by flogging their designs at London's Portobello Road Market. Sass & Bide is now known as a luxurious contemporary range that includes beautifully embellished tops, tees and jackets, and some pretty great denims. Expect to pay about HK$1,400 to HK$5,100 for any piece from its current collection.
