Ng Ka-yee chose to visit San Francisco to improve her English language skills. As someone who is very energetic, the Form Five student was attracted to the city's energy. 'Although I only stayed there for three weeks, I learned and experienced far more than I expected,' Ka-yee says. 'First of all, I met many people from every corner of the world. It seems that the whole world was squeezed into the city. I made friends from Germany, France, Spain, Taiwan, Japan, Costa Rica, Brazil and more. Learning about these different cultures, helped me to learn more about myself,' the 16-year-old adds. 'Studying in the heart of San Francisco allowed me to combine learning with fun. I could enjoy the very best of the cosmopolitan city and the beautiful treasures of the historic Presidio National Park by foot or cable car. I also explored the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island. 'Staying with the host family exposed me to a lot of American culture. I even learned about things like eating habits and communication style. Until my trip, I'd only known about American culture through Hollywood movies. 'Thanks to my study trip, I became a lot more confident in speaking English, and making friends from different cultures. I also feel I have an in-depth knowledge of American culture. I can't wait to go on another language trip to San Francisco, and visit my friends and host family again.'
