The Observatory recorded 6,003 strikes of lightning between 6am and 7am yesterday as a trough of low pressure moved in from Guangdong to bring thunderstorms and rain to the city. The trough weakened during the day to be replaced by a maritime airstream. Hong Kong will have sunny periods and some showers over the weekend but the Observatory predicts that it will be cloudy with rain and a few thunderstorms on Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures early next week will also be a little cooler, ranging from 22 to 26 degrees Celsius.
