After filming two movies in Gansu province and Mongolia last year, actress Charlie Young Choi-nei is all set to move behind the camera. The 35-year-old says she completed the script for her directorial debut, Christmas Rose, during four months spent shooting an action movie for mainland director Gao Qunshu on location in Dunhuang, Gansu. Preparation will begin soon on the movie about an ambitious lawyer's internal struggles, and she hopes to start shooting later this year or next year. 'I'm glad [the script] is finished: this is the next thing I want to do. I want to share my experiences through my movie,' she says. Spotted in the early 1990s in a jewellery commercial with Aaron Kwok Fu-shing, Young was praised for her role in Tsui Hark's The Lovers. She quit acting three years later to start an image consultant business, but returned to movies in 2004. Young, who recently trimmed her silky long mane into a bob, doesn't worry about her image or growing older. 'I don't think ageing is a problem. You see and feel things differently at different ages.'
