Netbooks are great when you're sitting in a cafe and sipping your latte, but when you're home, you probably want something with a bigger display. That's what you get from the creators of the first netbook, Asus, whose new EeeTop ET2010PNT now takes the netbook concept to the desktop.
The EeeTop ET2010PNT has a similar configuration to most netbooks on the market today. You get an Intel Atom D510 processing running at 1.66GHz, up to 4GB of RAM, a 500GB Sata II hard-disc drive and a 1.3-megapixel webcam.
What's different is the ET2010PNT's optical 20-inch touch screen. It supports multi-touch functionality from the Windows 7 OS, so you can now pinch-zoom, rotate images with two fingers, and scroll through webpages like you would on your touchscreen phone.
The graphics chip, featuring Nvidia's new ION2 platform, also outshines most netbooks, an important element if you play the latest 3D games.
The extra real estate surrounding the big screen also lets Asus put in four USB ports, a gigabit ethernet port for broadband, and HDMI for inputting high definition video files, as well as a tray-in super multi DVD drive.
Best yet, the ET2010PNT is only 50mm thick. It is now available for HK$5,588.
