In designing business cards, take into account colours that represent natural elements - wood, fire, earth, metal and water - of the work that you are engaged in. There are three groups of careers related to fire. The first consists of those in which fire or electricity play a major role, such as the manufacturing of explosives, chemical and flammable substances, repairs, factories, lighting, X-rays, computers and information technology. The second consists of jobs associated with the service industry, such as cooking, and the management of restaurants, cafes and bars. The final group is linked with occupations that emphasise appearance and expression or are associated with competition and attention: beauty parlours, cosmetics and make-up, advertising, design, photography, performance arts, psychology and public speaking. Cards for fire-related careers should have colours of wood that support it, and those of fire. These include green, red, orange, pink or purple. The first group of metal-related careers includes engineering and the manufacture and marketing of metal products. Metal is associated with power and justice, thus the second group of metal careers includes the legal profession, law enforcement, security and human resources. If you are working in a metal-related field, your card should contain colours that belong to the earth and metal elements, such as brown, beige, cream, yellow, white, grey, silver and gold. This is the second of a three-part series on fung shui and business cards.
