It seems the Hong Kong-based artist Kim Young has found an alter ego true to his Korean roots. The American-Korean has been spotted around town as Kim Young-ill, channelling the North Korean leader Kim Jong-il at fashion brand Diesel's Be Stupid campaign.
'My name is Kim Young-ill - the illest Young in the world,' the artist said at the Diesel boutique in Queens Road on Friday night.
The shop was packed with guests and passers-by trying to catch a glimpse of the pseudo-leader.
Set up in the store's window, Kim conducted a 30-minute live show interviewing models, including Cara Grogan, while enjoying chicken soup prepared on the scene by his 'private chef'.
Kim said he got the idea of impersonating Kim Jong-il when news was circulating about the Pyongyang leader's declining health.
'I just got this hilarious idea so I put on the wig and the outfit and walked around the city. I got many positive responses,' he said. Kim was invited to a North Korean-themed party in New York earlier this year.
