Radio and television host Kitty Yuen Siu-yee says she's giving her furry friends all the money she's made from her book about her chihuahua Dee Dee. Last week, she donated the HK$15,000 she raised from the book DEEGree of Love to Hong Kong's Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Published at last year's book fair, the tome seemed an easy earner for Yuen.

'I like taking photos of Dee Dee, so I didn't have to collect pictures all over again for the book,' the 39-year-old said. 'I'm really interested in writing about my doggie. It was a fun experience.'

Yuen also used her star power to campaign against animal cruelty in Hong Kong.

'Pet lovers should really think twice before getting a dog,' she said. 'It's a lifetime decision. Dee Dee is my family.'

Yuen said she also wants to help other animal-rights groups to secure permanent kennels.
