Kuk to march on bill

HEUNG Yee Kuk members will stage a protest march next month to express their anger over an amendment to the New Territories Ordinance to extend land inheritance rights to indigenous female residents.

The kuk leaders called on all indigenous residents to join the protest march next month from Victoria Park to Chater Garden and Government House.

More than 600 New Territories village representatives are expected to meet at Tsuen Wan Town Hall today before staging a protest march.

The representatives had also invited legislative and executive councillors to come to the meeting.

Chairman Lau Wong-fat, who claimed he supported sexual equality, yesterday also urged the Government to consult the rural people before amending the New Territories Ordinance.
