Consultant accused in bribes case

A PROPERTY consultant appeared in Eastern Court yesterday accused of organising bribes totalling $170,000.

Ng Sai-kwong, 44, is accused of inciting Chan Yik-king to give $100,000 to staff of the Public Works Department, as an inducement to their processing and granting approval to a building application at Koway Plaza, Chai Wan, between August and October 1992.

He is also charged with accepting $70,000 from So Kam-cheong, as an inducement for favouring investment company director Ko Yuen-ching in evicting tenants at Koway Plaza in November 1992. Ng further faces three counts of theft and two of obtaining property by deception.

Ng and Ko, 36, are charged with conspiracy to defraud.

No plea was taken. The case was adjourned until May.
