In her latest album, Bionic, Christina Aguilera's style is entirely different from that of her previous CDs. It is a futuristic, electronic approach that looks to the new generation in celebration of the birth of her son. This is no surprise: the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter is renowned for her versatility.
From her debut album, which skyrocketed her to fame as a commercial pop princess, to Back to Basics - a journey back in time to the 1920s through 40s - Aguilera has reached new depths with each impressive new release.
In Woohoo, Bionic and Not Myself Tonight, the distinctive, edgy beats are complemented by catchy lyrics.
Even so, it was disappointing not to hear her vocal powers used to their full potential in certain songs, particularly Elastic Love. Although the song is creative, it relies almost purely on technology to create a consistent melody.
Aside from that, there's little fault to be found. Empowering songs, especially for women, include I Hate Boys and My Girls.
Despite being frequently compared to Lady Gaga recently, Aguilera once again reminds us of the strong basis for her fame: intriguing originality and irrepressible talent.
