Trainer Alex Wong Yu-on was not overplaying the win of Clovis in the Waterfall Bay Handicap and simply stated the horse was in the right place at the right time to finally land his second win from 38 starts. Clovis was well rated by apprentice Kevin Leung Ka-wai and, despite tiring nearing the post, was able to scramble home to beat fast-finishing Romancing Tamar by a neck. 'He is not much of a horse, but eventually he can find his way to a win and really he needs everything to go right for that to happen,' Wong said. 'Two starts back he wouldn't go past horses and the owner thought that he might not like racing around other horses. 'So we used the apprentice claim, sent him out in front and he managed to hang on with the lighter weight. He is not reliable, but he won again and now we will try and find another race for him next season.'
