Pan-democrats must address social issues
I admire what the pan-democrats have done for Hong Kong. But we have now reached a milestone in the democracy movement. We need to keep working for greater democracy, but it is time that we looked at the many social issues that are affecting millions of people in Hong Kong.
These issues have been neglected in the past few months during the democracy debate and require immediate attention.
I would really like to see legislators working together to resolve some of the most important and pressing social issues faced by Hong Kong people.
These issues include air pollution, a minimum wage, health care, the elderly, child care and education. We need a blueprint to build a sustainable city.
Legislators, elected or appointed, are there to represent the people of Hong Kong.
It is their job to make the SAR a better place for all, to improve our livelihood, to ensure that we are rewarded for our hard work and honesty and to ensure that we can breathe clean air.
