Industrialist to fight crime

AN industrialist has been appointed to a government advisory body on anti-crime measures.

Edward Pong Chong, 45, of Shui Wing Steel Ltd, will replace Justein Wong Chun on the Central Fight Crime Committee for a two-year term.

An appointed Sai Kung District Board member and the district's Fight Crime Committee member, Mr Pong also sits on the Action Committee Against Narcotics and the Town Planning Board.

Mr Pong, a district board member for six years, said yesterday he would raise youth crime and drug abuse issues.

A government spokesman said Mr Wong, on the committee since 1988, had been replaced because it was hoped a new member could come up with fresh ideas.
