Peter Woo

All heart . . . mention the name of Wharf chairman Peter Woo and one's immediate thoughts are of mega-bucks, mega-deals and mega-projects. But Canto-pop? That's right. In his other unsung persona as one of Hong Kong's leading philanthropists, Mr Woo was at an Andy Lau Tak-wah charity concert at a packed Coliseum last night, held in aid of the Prince of Wales Hospital, where he is chairman of the governing committee.

Last year he donated $120 million to the hospital. Assisting Mr Woo on stage prior to the concert in lighting a heart-shaped lamp to mark the Sha Tin-based medical facility's 10th anniversary were first lady Lavender Patten and Christine Wong, chairman of the Friends of the Prince of Wales Hospital, who were instrumental in organising the concert.
