How to ward off attacking energy

Jin Peh

Last week, I talked about finding premises for your new business. The next step is to assign different functions to your workspace.

Make sure there are no attacking structures opposite the main entrance, such as a lift door, fire extinguisher or a hose. Also, the main entrance should not face the entrance of a neighbour's office. If there are any potential obstacles, relocate your door or consult a fung shui master on how to proceed.

If your main entrance is located at the end of a long aisle, you can install a solid, opaque screen between the entrance and your office to disperse the attacking energy from the corridor.

You can then work out the wealth sector of your premises using fung shui methods. Wealth sectors need to be stimulated by yang energy and activity, so if the sector is located near the front of the office, place your main entrance there. The sales and marketing division can also be located in the sector.

Senior managers and the person in charge should be near the back of the office, where the positive health stars are.

Health stars are stimulated by yin activity, so the brains behind your operation should be there for good business strategies.

Human resources staff can also be placed where the health stars are to ensure harmonious relationships within the firm.

Toilets and storage rooms can be in sectors with negative chi. This way, the influence of negative energies will be confined to places with limited activity.

This is the second of a three-part series on the fung shui of starting a business.
