Hot on the heels of Apple's iPad comes this clone from China. Called, the APad iRobot, this little gem looks and feels like the iPad - in fact, photos reveal that it looks almost identical. It's not until you actually put the two side by side that you see the main difference - the size of the screen. Unlike the iPad's 9.7-inch, 1024 x 768-pixel, screen, the APad sports only a 7-inch display - albeit with a 16:9 aspect ratio - with a maximum resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. That aside, the other big difference is the APad runs Google's Android operating system, hence the 'A'. With that, you get a bunch of Google applications, including Gmail, the Chrome browser, Google Maps, one-click YouTube access, and office applications such as Word and Excel. More importantly, the APad comes with support for most media formats, including MKV, AVI, RM/RMVB, and FLV for video, MP3, WMA, APE, Flac, AAC, AC3 and WAV for music, and Jpeg, BMP, GIF, PNG and Tiff for photos. That's not all. Despite being smaller, the APad has two mini-USB ports, a card reader and a webcam, all of which the iPad lacks. In performance terms against the iPad, the APad has a slightly slower processor at 600MHz, and only up to 4GB of internal memory. It also only supports Wi-fi at the moment with no 3G model available yet. But the best part about the APad iRobot is the price - a very pocket-friendly HK$1,380. Pros: Sleek Google Android 'pad', extensive media support, mini-USB ports, expandable memory card slot Cons: smaller screen than iPad, no 3G
