Daddyo's G/F 29 Staunton Street Central Tel: 2526 8668

Grub: Mostly pasta and pizza, but there is a range of other appetisers and snacks.

Vibe: A small, unpretentious place, with young, friendly staff. There are a few tables with stools that offer a view out onto Staunton Street. For those that want to hang out a little longer, there are retro games such as Connect Four and Uno or, for the solitary diner, some brain-teasing puzzles.

Who to bring: Anybody who's over electronic/online games.

What's hot: This would be a good place to while away a wet afternoon. There games are obviously there to encourage you to hang out a while, and the menu is as easy going as everything else about the place.

They do a very good poutine here, but on this visit, my friend and I were sharing and she didn't fancy it. The potato skins, onion rings and chicken wings were all very tempting: we ruled out the wings because we'd already decided to have chicken linguini, and decided to play Connect Four to decide between the other two. If I won, we'd get the potato skins; if my friend won, we were to have the onion.
