The body of a teenager who drowned while fishing in a Sha Tin reservoir during the downpour caused by Typhoon Chanthu was found yesterday, a week after he and a friend were swept away by flash floods.
Relatives of Leung Ho-man, 18, rushed to the reservoir to identify the body found in the Lower Shing Mun Reservoir shortly before 1pm near where the body of his friend, Chu Ka-chu, 20, was found on Tuesday.
They also burned offerings.
The pair called police for help at 6pm on Thursday last week at the height of the black rainstorm but were not heard from again.
The downpour also killed Lam Wing-yick, 72, who was washed away by floodwaters outside his home in Sha Po Chai Tsuen on Tat Wan Road. His body was found in Tolo Harbour off Tai Po Industrial Estate a day later.
In a meeting with legislator Gary Chan Hak-kan yesterday, drainage chief Peter Lau Ka-keung said the contractor carrying out drainage work upstream in the Tai Po River was now clearing the rocks and sediment deposited in the river next to the village.
