Product pours oil on troubled waters of racial sensitivity in marketing

Blame it on Google's automatic translation, but the original name for the Hong Kong-made product isn't any better.

Alert reader Yvonne Chan sent us this advertisement from a mainland marketing website.

The English translation for the product: 'Hong Kong nigger oil 60ml.'

On the Chinese-language label, the oil promises to strengthen blood circulation and develop muscles, relieve pain and heal wounds and inflammation.

And it might just make some people's blood boil.

'What's worse than snake oil? Hak gwai oil,' wrote Yvonne. 'A dab of nigger oil, a teeth clean with some Chinkie toothpaste - all in a day of KKK grooming.'
