Just before qualifying for the Youth Olympic Games (YOG), Jessica won a silver medal at the Hong Kong Inter-City Athletics Championships this year.

How she qualified 'I took part in the Asian Area Qualification for YOG 2010 in Singapore in May. I passed in the second attempt of 1.71m and tied with Wu Meng-chia from Chinese Taipei. I came second in the end as I had one more attempt than Wu, but I still secured a place in the YOG.'

Soundbite 'I experienced utter defeat in last year's East Asian Games (EAG). I could not pass the starting height in all attempts and was ranked last. The loss became my nightmare and affected my performance when I competed at the venue (Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground) again this year,' Jessica says. 'The media called it the 'Tseung Kwan O spell' when they reported my results. Fortunately, I overcame the difficulty and did well again in the Hong Kong Inter-City Athletics Championships at the same venue.
