Defunct yoga chain duo arrested
A man, 35, and a woman, 31, were arrested on Tuesday night over alleged fraud in connection with Beauty Yoga, which suddenly closed down on Monday, leaving more than 800 members out of pocket, a police spokesman said yesterday. The duo were granted bail at HK$20,000 each.
Former High Court chief dies
Former High Court chief judge Arthur Leong Shiu-chung died on Wednesday aged 74, a judiciary spokesman said. Leong joined the judiciary in 1973 as a magistrate. He was appointed High Court chief judge in 2001 before retiring in 2003. He received the Gold Bauhinia Star.
Fatal case of flesh-eating disease
A 59-year-old Tung Chung man died on Wednesday after contracting the flesh-eating disease necrotising fasciitis, the Centre for Health Protection said. The man was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital with fever, abdominal pain and bruising following a fall on August 5.
