It seems Ulrike Pohl owes it to her gut feeling again. Pohl, the owner of fashion boutique and cafe Forest Bird, owes her latest collaboration with Paul Lafayet Patisserie to a cyberspace rendezvous. 'I Googled 'delicious cake in Hong Kong' and Paul Lafayet (pictured with Pohl) was among the first ones that popped out,' said the former architect, who moved to Hong Kong last year from Berlin and opened the boutique in Staunton Street in April. Pohl e-mailed patisserie-store owner Toni Younes to schedule a dessert sampling. After the first tasting, Pohl decided to add its cakes and delectable macarons to her in-store cafe menu. 'I can tell from just one bite, either you like it or you don't. You have to trust your instinct.' To launch the dessert range and a new revamp of the cafe, Pohl hosted a tasting for media and friends on Thursday.
