Employer in towel raped me, maid says
A Filipino domestic helper lost her virginity when she was raped by her married employer, who had waited at home for her wearing only a towel, a court was told. The weeping woman, 38, told the Court of First Instance that the alleged rape had been her first experience of sexual intercourse. 'He did bad things to me,' she said after breaking down in tears. Truck driver Lau Wai-keung, 53, is charged with raping the unnamed maid at the flat he shares with his wife and children in Sham Shui Po on October 27 last year. Lau has pleaded not guilty. Prosecutor Edward Laskey said that when the woman returned to the flat after buying food, she found Lau alone, 'seated, but the only clothing ... around him was a towel'. He locked the front door, grabbed her, and kissed her before forcing himself on her on a bed. The woman said that after the alleged rape she had phoned her former employer, for whom she had worked for 10 years, to ask for help. Her previous employer advised her to call the police, which she did. When the police arrived, the maid pointed out Lau to them. The alleged victim had been working for Lau's household since June 2009. The trial, before Mr Justice Peter Duncan, continues today with Mahinder Panesar, representing the defendant, due to cross-examine the woman.
