Lum reaches 50m freestyle final

Hong Kong's Jeff Lum Ching-tat reached the final of the boys' 50-metre freestyle at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore yesterday. The 18-year-old finished second in the morning's heat in 23.30 seconds and then improved to 23.14 seconds in the semi-finals, where he came sixth overall. The final will be held today. Yvette Kong Man-yi was 12th overall in the girls' 100-metre breaststroke semi-finals and missed out on a berth in the final. In boys' windsurfing, Michael Cheng Chun-leung is third overall after the first two of a scheduled 15 races.
