STEVE Davy (''Reckless drivers - police turning blind eye'', South China Morning Post, April 22) claims that when he reported a mini-bus driver to the police, he was advised to drop the matter. On the contrary, police called him three times after the initial complaint in an effort to have him make a statement. The third call was made after Mr Davy said he did not wish to pursue the matter. Subsequently a letter was sent to him confirming that no further action would be taken. As I stated in my previous letter, police cannot operate in a vacuum. LEE SIU-KIN for Commissioner of Police
