An English teacher is being questioned by police after being arrested on suspicion of killing a 24-year-old man during Wednesday's brawl in a popular Tsim Sha Tsui bar street.
The 28-year-old American man, who works in the city and has a Hong Kong identity card, was nabbed when crime-squad officers, who worked around the clock to identify and find him, raided his home in Mong Kok late on Thursday night.
Police identified him only by his surname, Jow, and refused to give further information about him.
Jow was accused of carrying a knife during the melee that spilled from the bar street, Knutsford Terrace, into Kimberley Road at about 4am on Wednesday, police said.
Cheung Kin-lung, 24, died from a single stab wound to the stomach and a 29-year-old man was injured in the back during the brawl, which involved more than 10 people from two groups.
A post-mortem examination found Cheung, an odd-job worker who lived with his father on Lantau, died from loss of blood, police said. 
 A police officer said that at this stage, no other person was being hunted over the murder case.
The brawl developed from a dispute in a lift as the two groups left an upstairs bar in Knutsford Terrace, the officer said.
The dispute turned into the melee when they reached the ground level and members of the groups pushed each other. No weapon was found at the scene.
Police refused to say yesterday whether officers seized a knife when they arrested Jow in Mong Kok.
Last night, Jow was being held for questioning in Tsim Sha Tsui police station and had not been charged.
On Wednesday, police arrested three other men aged 25 to 29 in connection with the case. The three, including a New Zealand man and the 29-year-old injured man, have been released on bail of HK$10,000 each.
Police said investigations by detectives from Yau Tsim district crime squad were continuing.
At the same time as the brawl happened on Wednesday, another fight involving 10 youths from two groups broke out in the same area. The two groups also left the same upstairs bar.
Police said teasing of a woman sparked this brawl, in which a woman, 20, and man, 23, were injured. Police arrested three men over the brawl. They have been granted bail and none has been charged.
The two incidents have brought a call from Yau Tsim Mong district councillor Chan Wai-keung  for more police patrols in the area. He will raise the law-and-order situation in Knutsford Terrace at a district council meeting on Thursday.
