September is like the second coming for fashionistas- it's the beginning of a new season which means plenty of new clothes to buy and glossy September issues to peruse.

In Europe and the US, the spring/summer 2011 shows start in New York before ending in Paris a month later. While Hong Kong may not have its own fashion week (well nothing worth writing about, anyway), there are a host of exciting events and personal appearances planned over the next few weeks.

Things kick off tomorrow with the reopening of the Dries Van Noten boutique in The Landmark, which will be dedicated solely to womenswear. The boutique is modelled on the brand's chic yet intimate store in Paris and will feature 18th and 19th century antiques and other objects sourced by Van Noten personally.

Yves Saint Laurent is also opening a new boutique at Elements, which will debut the brand's new design concept, The Opium Experience. To commemorate the opening, designer Stefano Pilati has created two limited-edition Muse Two handbags made from vintage military canvas - choose from olive (right) or safari. They fit in perfectly with autumn's military vibe.

There's one more place to get your fix of Ferragamo's Vara flats - its new boutique at Pacific Place which opens on Friday.

These openings are, of course, the first of many - America's answer to TopShop, mass retailer Forever 21, will open in Causeway Bay later this month with a mega store. Also cheap and chic is Swedish brand Monki, which is the little sister of affordable denim brand Cheap Monday (H&M owns 60 per cent of the company). It will open its first store in Mong Kok at the end of September.
