Our reputation is very important. If you have a criminal record - even a minor one for shoplifting - it will damage your reputation. People will not trust you.
Society is full of temptations. If we do not stay on the right path, it is so easy to fall from grace - no matter how rich or successful you have been in the past.
The disgraced dean of medicine at the University of Hong Kong, Lam-Shiu-kum, was jailed last year for pocketing money from medical research. Former president of Taiwan Chen Shui-bian is in prison for graft. Both men were highly respected and trusted by the public, but what they did completely ruined them. Their cases serve as a warning to all of us - it's so easy to destroy your good name.
Your reputation is the most precious thing you have. It's hard to earn, but so easy to lose.
