AS CHAIRMAN of the Hong Kong Club Managers Association, I read with great interest the article on recreational clubs in Hong Kong (Sunday Morning Post Magazine, April 24).
I am not aware of any club or, for that matter, any restaurant or hotel that allows members or customers ''to get roaring drunk and misbehave''. The article is most misleading. With almost 40 clubs in Hong Kong, the vast majority of which are recreational, the article is limited in its perspective in not mentioning an equal number of popular clubs offering excellent facilities.
The Hong Kong Club Managers Association does not endorse or support any agency in the distribution of information or the selling of debentures. If anyone is interested in information concerning a club, we recommend you contact a member of that club or the club management office for information. Clubs that offer debentures would be most pleased to speak directly with anyone interested in membership.
Why get possibly inaccurate information and perhaps pay several hundred thousand dollars in commission to a broker when you can go directly to the club? RICHARD H. ROSS Chairman Hong Kong Club Managers Association
