Nine plead not guilty in Blue Room Poker House bust
Nine people pleaded not guilty in Eastern Court yesterday to gambling offences in relation to The Blue Room Poker House at Central. A total of 16 people have appeared in court since the high-profile raid in March. The rest of the defendants did not enter pleas. Canadian Elton Tsang Ka-wai, 29, American businessman Jonathan Shen, 31, and American businessman Sebastian Chau Yeen, 29, who appeared in court for the first time yesterday, pleaded not guilty to managing a gambling establishment between November 2009 and March. Nepalese manager Anjana Rai, 26, also pleaded not guilty to the charge. Other defendants pleaded not guilty to gambling or operating a gambling establishment. They face trial on November 18.
4 youths arrested over attacks
Police arrested four youths after four men aged from 19 to 25 were beaten with water pipes at Ka Fuk Estate, Fanling, at about 4.45am. Two of the victims suffered minor hand injuries and were robbed of an iPhone and wallet. Officers mounted a search and arrested four males aged from 15 to 18. They were being held for questioning.
Man arrested for drink-driving
A motorist was arrested for drink-driving after his car ran out of control and overturned on Kiu Hing Road outside Tai Tong Tsuen in Yuen Long at about 2am. The man, 28, suffered minor injuries to his neck and limbs and was treated in hospital.
