Natural disasters an inspiration as fashionistas gather

Moiselle's 2010 autumn-winter collection is not for the meek, as its name 'The Scream of Nature' would indicate. The bold colours and textures take unlikely inspiration from natural disasters-volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and melting ice shelves-purportedly reflecting a woman's confidence in the face of ever-changing uncertain environments.

Hong Kong's well-heeled braved the rains and descended on the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre for a preview of this season's new looks, waiting for an hour or so for VIPs to arrive and the fashion show to begin.

Among the guests was Sabrina Ho Chiu-ying, daughter of Macau casino tycoon Stanley Ho Hung-sun, as well as actress Fan Bingbing (below). Both wore dresses specially designed for them by Harris Chan Pak-hei, creative director of the Hong Kong-based fashion house.

'I love the dress because the colour is so passionate,' said Fan, looking like a force of nature in a flowing red gown.

She chatted with entertainment media representatives about fashion, having had to gain a little weight for her previous film role, her plans for her forthcoming birthday (going to mum's for a home-cooked meal) and other non earth-shattering matters.
