Rampant Sun Hei issue early warning

Former champions Sun Hei leapt to the top of the BMA Hong Kong First Division after thrashing Tai Chung 3-0 yesterday.

The three-time champions got their season off to a flying start as first-half goals from Chao Pengfei, Carlos Dos Santos and Li Ming sealed a comprehensive victory that left Sun Hei on top of the standings on goal difference ahead of Fourway Rangers and South China.

Yesterday's match at Tsing Yi Sports Ground - postponed from last Friday because of bad weather and watched by a crowd of just 383 - was marred by a rash of cards with both teams having a man sent off in a physical second half.

Sun Hei defender Kwon Hyuk-tae was given his marching orders in the 60th minute, while Tai Chung's Ip Chung-long was dismissed after picking up a second yellow card in the 81st minute.

Chao put Sun Hei ahead after just three minutes, Santos added the second in the 32nd minute and Li made it 3-0 on the stroke of half-time with a deflected shot off teammate Tse Man-wing's powerful volley.
