With the spring/summer 2011 season kicking off this week, the fashion world has been buzzing. Perhaps the most exciting piece of news is the announcement that design maestro and creative director of Lanvin, Alber Elbaz, is collaborating with high street chain H&M. Elbaz joins a growing list of luxury designers and brands that have worked with the Swedish chain (including Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney), and his offerings will include both women's and menswear. We can't wait to see what the line will look like when it hits the stores on November 23.

Also hot on the collaborations is Italian shoe designer Giuseppe Zanotti who will be lending his talents to French brand Vionnet for its first shoe collection. It will debut at Paris fashion week in October and go on sale in the spring.

In cyberspace, Gucci has reopened its flagship store online - this, however, is no ordinary store. In addition to the usual brand info, e-shop and runway images, the label is also launching the Gucci Connect E-vent on September 22, which will allow people to watch the spring/summer 2011 fashion show live from Milan, and give them the option to share their live webcam videos, and network online with other guests such as press and buyers. Virtual guests can sign up for an e-ticket to the show on the website (www.gucciconnect.com) starting September 1.

Back in the non-virtual world, there is the usual deluge of store openings this week. Emporio Armani has opened its sixth store at Lee Gardens (Shops G06-106, Lee Garden II, Causeway Bay). The two-storey space will stock ready-to-wear, accessories, watches, eyewear and jewellery for men and women.

Miu Miu has also relocated and expanded its Pacific Place store (Shop 350, Pacific Place, Admiralty, tel: 2918 4616). To celebrate the company has launched a limited edition bag (HK$8,500, pictured) from its autumn/winter collection.
