Running to the Extremes

By day, Derek Kwik is the founding partner of a technology venture-capital firm and chief executive of design and consulting firm Interactive Imagination. But, in his spare time, he races through deserts, jungle and mountains.

The Hongkonger has tackled some of the highest, hottest and coldest places in the world, including the Amazon rainforest, the Antarctic, and the Sahara and Gobi deserts. Apart from braving such punishing terrain, Kwik has battled injuries and encountered poisonous snakes, piranhas, crocodiles and jaguars.

In the lecture titled 'Running to the Extremes', hosted by the Royal Geographical Society HK, Kwik (above) will share his experiences on seven continents and discuss what motivates him to push the envelope as an extreme adventure athlete.

Pacific Place Conference Centre, 5/F One Pacific Place, Admiralty, September 21, drinks 6.30pm, lecture 7.30pm, HK$100 (society members), HK$150. Inquiries: 2583 9700
