Losada at the double as Kitchee get off mark
Spanish striker Roberto Losada scored twice to help Kitchee clinch their first victory of the season, a 3-1 win over Citizen in the BMA First Division at Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground last night.
The double strike marked the first goals in Hong Kong for the former Valladolid player, who played seven seasons in La Liga before joining Kitchee. They were held to a goalless draw by TSW Pegasus in their opening match two weeks ago.
'I feel very happy at scoring two goals,' said Losada, who paid tribute to teammate Daniel Cancela for the two assists. 'But I think the overall team result is more important than how many goals I have scored.'
Losada, 33, was substituted in the second half, just like in his first match against Pegasus, but he said it had nothing to do with his fitness.
'I suffered a knock in the calf after scoring the second goal and it was painful,' he said. 'I still feel good despite the weather conditions being very tough in Hong Kong.'
Left back Cancela, who played with Losada at Spanish Second Division side Lugo for the past two seasons, hailed the 'Spanish connection' for completing a good job, especially playing in front of their own crowd. Kitchee will use the Tseung Kwan O facility as their home this season despite concerns raised by the Amateur Athletic Association, the primary user of the venue.
