Jinhui Shipping and Transportation, Goldbeam Shipping and ship-broking outfit Clarksons Asia are likely to appeal against a decision yesterday by Admiralty Court judge Anselmo Reyes that found in favour of Singapore's Parakou Shipping involving a complicated dispute over a failed ship charter.
Galsworthy, a third subsidiary of locally listed Jinhui Holdings, and Clarksons have already won an arbitration in London against Parakou Shipping.
But the Singapore company has disputed the arbitration decision which was not legally binding.
Charles Sussex, acting on behalf of Jinhui Shipping, Goldbeam Shipping and Clarksons, confirmed that an approach to the Court of Appeal to overturn the judge's decision was likely.
Judge Reyes did not give reasons for dismissing the action by the three companies, but said a written judgment explaining his reasons would be available next week.
He described the wrangle as a 'fascinating case'.
The dispute arose in March last year after Galsworthy agreed to charter the 52,454 deadweight tonnes dry bulk cargo ship Jin Kang to Parakou Shipping.
